They tell me Christmastime is all about family traditions. I hate to say it, but the Boone family doesn't have many Christmas traditions. Really any . . . except for one.
About six years ago my wife Mindy decided to get one of those gingerbread house kits. The little cheap ones that are pretty easy to put together. Well, we put it together as a family. It stayed up for about three days. Then little by little I saw pieces of it disappearing. Turns out Mindy was snacking on it throughout the day. Little by little the house disappeared.
Fast forward to last Tuesday night . . .
This whole gingerbread house thing has devolved into complete chaos at my house. Now we have two teams. Me and one of the boys vs. Mindy and one of the boys. Basically we build, judge, and eat the gingerbread house over the course of 15 minutes.
This is not a joke. It's true, all of it.
We definitely don't have the most traditional Christmas at our house. But I bet the gingerbread house building/eating contest will be talked about long after I'm gone. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
